Sharif NuhaaQ Baloch
There was a time when girls were buried at time of their birth but now the importance of women in all fields of life is well recognized. Although, there is strong opposition to women empowerment yet she is allowed to become a career woman and earn for her family.
Women have proved themselves very successful as compared to men. They have proved themselves as good teachers, doctors, nurses, politician, artists, writers, office secretaries and social welfare workers and so on. Today we have women acting as judges, Lawyers administrators and doctors. They have also joined the police and armed forces. Recently few women have been inducted in Pakistan air force as fighter pilots. It’s means that the changes are coming to in our society. They are not only acting very well as the members of provincial and national assembly but also are very successful as ministers, ambassadors and even as heads of government. In short, they are playing valuable role in every field of life.
It is an undeniable fact that it is an age of freedom and emancipation of women. Our religion Islam also gives them due rights. A woman enjoys equal social rights as a man has. But the moment for liberty and equality of woman should not be allowed to exceed limits. Women must be given civil rights and political and economic liberties as in the west. It is not the equality of women with men in every field of life that is needed. Rather, it is the free choice, free thinking of their welfare that women have been in need and still need. What is the welfare of women? Is it provision and security of job opportunities? Is it forcing them to work in such field where tremendous physical vigor and suffering are required or is it recognizing their importance as a biological woman?
Unfortunately, our society has totally neglected the rights of women. It is deplorable condition especially for women in our society. Women are killed in the name of the honor, wedded with Holy Quran to capture their inherited property, married at young age and so on. Apart from that there is strong opposition to education of women in some conservative societies which is condemnable. Without providing due rights to women no society can develop in its true sense.
