Imagine a library in a suburb within an institution where young girls and boys have always been craving for better learning and educational opportunities. A place where generations of little children and youngsters will learn to read and celebrate the power of books.
YES (Youth Exchange and Study) alumni, with the support of IEARN (International Educational and Resource Network) and SIE (Society for International Educational) established a small library within an educational center in Nayabad, a suburb of Gwadar.
Once the library was set up, the YES Alumni Gwadar ran a book drive for collection of books as part of World Literacy Day project. Books were received from different parts of the country but mainly from Gwadar, Quetta and Karachi. A special donation was made by Balochi Academy Quetta.
The institution wherein the library has been established is an exceptional effort of a few local self-driven individuals. Their biggest contribution is enhancing English language proficiency and twenty-first century skills of students in the most underprivileged region of the country.
In order to enrich the educational experience of students, a library was something they always wanted to have. And finally with the help of YES Alumni library, the students are able to enjoy knowledge and the power of books.
A special thanks to all friends who donated books for the library. Regardless of the contributions made, there is still a lot of space for more books. Individuals having books on their shelves that are of no more of their need can still contribute.
