QUETTA: On the occasion of earth hour the speaker of the Provincial Assembly Ms.Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani in a massage has said that the observance of earth hour is particularly important for Pakistan in the backdrop of need for energy conservation and environmental protection.
Earth hour has been observed from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm in Balochistan as elsewhere in country here on Saturday night. In this connection the extra lights of the Balochistan Provincial Assembly were switched off for one hour between 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Speaker of the Provincial Assembly said : “Pakistan will play it’s due role to boost the national climate change resilience, protect lives and livelihoods of the people, while appreciating the concrete measures taken by the present government for the improvement of the energy sector.”
The speaker said that in the leadership of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif the country is leading towards economic development and prosperity.
She said that several energy projects were being implemented under China Pakistan Economic Corridor which would not only overcome the energy Short fall but also increase the power production in the country. She adding that Balochistan was located on seismic zone where a huge awareness was critically important to aware masses regarding the impact of climate change.
