The collection of decade-old political ‘Pashto’ mag launched

 ZHOB: The launching ceremony of the historical and political book ‘Pashto’ held at district assembly hall here. Veteran politician and member of the Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party central committee Molvi Sultan Kharoti presided over the launching event. A large number of political activists, writers, intellectuals, poets and people from different walks of life attended the ceremony.

The newly-launched book is a collection of the historical journal ‘Pashto’ that was brought out by the Progressive Writers’ Movement ‘Lat Khaana” in 1950s, but met forcibly closure after one year. Addressing on the occasion Mirwais Khan Mandokhail and Amanullah Kharoti who republished the magazine said that Sain Kamal Khan Sherani and Dr. Khudai Dad had launched the magazine ‘Pashto’ in 1953 but after publishing its twelve issues the magazine was closed down under Public Safety Act by the then provincial government. The act was used to guillotine the voice of oppressed Pashtoons”, they said.

 “In order to save the historical pages of the magazine we intended to re-publish it in a book format,” adding the purpose of publishing is to aware the youth of the struggle of Pashtoon nationalist leaders.

 Addressing on the occasion chief guest Molvi Sultan Kharoti, Chairman Sultan Sherani, Abdul Qayyum Advocate, Barmala Khan Barmol, Jamal lala, president Pashtana Mutaraqee Leekwal Waziristan Azeem Wazir, Sharif Sherani, Haji Naseeb Nasar, Ishaq Shah Muffaqir, Masroor Musakhail, Pashtoon Yar Sherani and Mehmood Sherani appreciated the unique efforts and termed the ‘Pashto’ book a valuable addition to the Pashto literature and political history. The book was also presented to the participants. The newly-lunched book is composed by journalist Rafiullah Mandokhail.

It is worth mentioning that the veteran nationalist and revolutionary leader Sain Kamal Khan Ulasmal Sherani was the founding member of Pk-MAP and one of the closest companions of Khan Shaheed Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai. He despite critical circumstances and pressure brought out the ‘Pashto’ journal.
