Local bodies councilors threaten to resign if power not transferred to local bodies

Quetta: If the local bodies election process is not completed soon then the councilors can tender mass resignations, said All Parties democratic alliance (APDA) on Saturday.

APDA is an alliance of all political parties of Balochistan that have contested local body polls in last December, excluding National Party (NP) and Pashtunkhaw Milli Awami Party (PKMAP).

A meeting of APDA was held in Quetta on Saturday. The participants in the meeting vowed to fight the provincial government and provincial election which are hell bent on destroying the local bodies setup.

The chairman of APDA, Haji Lashkari Raisani, alleged that NP and PKMAP are destroying the local bodies system due to their vested interests.

There is not a single example in entire world where the local bodies election process is incomplete even after a year, complained the members of APDA.  If the election process is not completed soon then all the councilors of APDA will besiege the office of election commission in Quetta and all the councilors will resign in protest, announced APDA members.

The members of APDA also condemned the partiality of election commission during the polls for reserved seats in Quetta where the ruling PKMAP was favored by election commission.

The local bodies election in Balochistan were held on 7th December last year and polling for reserved seats was conducted in May this year. Ruling PKAMP has challenged the election for reserved seats in court and that is resulting in a deliberate delay, according to APDA, in transfer of power to Local bodies councilors.
