Police force is important for maintaining rule of law in any society. Police needs to be properly trained and equipped with modern weapons and skills to combat criminals and terrorists. No society can function that has a weak Police Force.
Similarly, morale of the Police should also be kept high all the times so that they can function properly. Sufficient Salaries paid to Police play a vital part in keeping them morale high. Unfortunately, Police force of Balochistan has the lowest salaries among the Police forces of all four provinces of Pakistan.
Police in Balochistan has to do a much tougher job as compared to Police in other three provinces due to insurgency, smuggling, vast territory and tribal tensions and so on. In such circumstances, Police force of Balochistan has lost hundreds of policeman during last few years including 20 high ranking Police officers.
Governments of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have released the importance of police salaries and increased them recently. However, Balochistan government is yet to increase the salaries of Police to account for growing inflation.
Therefore, I urge Government of Balochistan to increase the salary of Policeman so that they can be financially secure and perform their duties perfectly.
