 “International Women’s Day” Celebrated at   BUITEMS

Quetta: Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) organized a seminar on “International Women’s Day” on 7th March 2017 at Takatu Campus, BUITEMS. The event is part of BUITEMS’ recently started project titled “Institutionalization of Gender sensitization and gender training materials in Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Quetta” under Gender Equity Program (GEP) of Aurat Foundation by the support of American People through the United states agency for international development (USAID).

Chief Guest of the ceremony was Member Provincial Assembly Mrs. Spozmai  Achakzai. The seminar was attended by many renowned scholars, academicians, civil rights activists, teachers and students.

The seminar was addressed by Mrs. Surraiya Allahdin, Ms Fatima Nangyal, Dr. Naheed  Anjum  Chisti and Ms Salma Hassani who talked about the immense role that women play in crafting the future of theirgenerations. Ms. Syeda Fakhra Wahid, a notable poetess, shares one of her poems on “Women Empowerment” with the audience. The audience was also entertained by songs based on International Women’s day theme sung by the talented students of BUITEMS.

The Chief Guestof the ceremony Mrs. Spozmai Achakzai remarked that recognizing women’s rights and giving her respect and recognition is not a novel concept for us;as our beloved religion Islam teaches us to acknowledge women with the highest sense of reverence and honor in the shape of mother,daughter,wife or sister.

The seminar ended with Cake cutting ceremony.The participants and speakers greatly appreciated the initiative and wish that such initiatives become a source of inspiration not only for people inside BUITEMS but for other institutions as well to take part in as many social responsibility and community projects as possible because “helping each other to develop” is the only way toward a blissful and flourishing future.
