Letter: Poor State Of Education In Balochistan

As we know that education is the third eye of a nation but unluckily in Balochistan the quality of education is falling day by day. In a recent survey conducted by Azat foundation, it was revealed that the literacy rate in balochistan is 33% which should be a big cause of concern for everyone in this society. There are hundreds of thousands of ghost schools and government has left them at the mercy of a group which itself is responsible for ignorance and illiteracy.

Teachers are the builders of a nation and where teachers are employed on the basis of recommendation culture, what we can expect from that society? In our educational institutions there is scarcity of necessary facilities; students have no system of scientific experimentation, there are no good science teachers, no visits of education officers in schools which molds the way for the teachers to be less serious and sincere with their job.

Government should form special teams that visit schools on sudden basis. The teachers must be recruited on the basis of merit. If the government won’t be serious and sincere in sorting out the main cause of our backwardness then we will further plunge in the darkness of wilderness.
