Lok Virsa to hold training program for children on “Traditional Handloom Work”

Islamabad: Lok Virsa is holding the training program for children on “Traditional Handloom Work” under the ongoing Craft of the Month series from 19th to 25th December 2016.

The program aims at promoting traditional skills, giving knowledge to younger generation, especially children about the importance and utility of different crafts and providing opportunity to them to learn about Pakistan’s rich, diverse and pluralistic cultural tapestry. It also encourages children to value dignity of labour, fosters ownership for their culture, and creates respect for different professions and character building. It helps understand the contribution of artisans in the sustainable development of their community and country at large.

Master artisans from different areas will give hands on training to children (age: 6-14 years) for a week from 10 am to 5 pm at Lok Virsa Heritage Museum, Shakarparian.

Registration is free. Lok Virsa will also provide raw material for training purposes.
