MoU Signed for Improving Nutritional Status of Women and Children

 Quetta: Peoples Primary Health Care Initiative (PPHI) Balochistan will provide services at facility level and support Balochistan Nutrition Programme for mothers and children to improve nutritional status of mothers and children in the province. This was agreed under the MoU signed between Nutrition Program Balochsitan and Peoples Primary Health Care Initiative (PPHI) Balochistan on Tuesday here in Quetta.

According to the details Balochistan Nutrition Program for Mothers and Children (BNPMC), Health Department Government of Balochistan have signed MoU on child mother nutrition with Peoples Primary Health Care Initiative (PPHI) Balochistan.

Under the MoU PPHI will provide services, facilitate and support Balochistan Nutrition Programme for mothers and children to improve nutritional struts of mothers and children in the province.

Speaking on the occasion Abdullah Khan, additional secretary development health department  said that agreement signed today between PPHI and Balochistan Nutrition Program for Mothers and Children Government of Balochistan would help improve health matters of people particularly mother child nutrition would get a right direction.

“Mutual agreement will help government of Balochistan and will be far achieving better nutritional status of women and children of the province.” Mr. Khan said

Dr. Masood Nosherwani, Director General Health Services Balochsitan said it is happy occasion that an agreement has been signed about nutrition of mother and child. He said that an agreement of partnership between public and private sector would be a successful model for providing nutritional and health services in local community.

Dr. Nosherwani expressed hope that owing to collaborative efforts we would be able to achieve objectives about nutrition of mother and child and health Department would continue its efforts to give practical shape to this accord.

“A survey was conducted by Health Department Government of Pakistan and Aga Khan University on mother child health According to this survey 16 percent children are faced with serious nutrition problem while40 percent children fall in low weight category while 52 percent children are smaller in length compared to their age.” Dr Ali Nasir Bugti said

He said under this agreement PPHI will provide health services at facility level in seven districts including Sibi, Noshki, Kharan, Zhob, Killa Saifullah, Kohlu and Panjgoor. The support of PPHI will definitely be a helpful to the nutrition program Balochsitan in improving nutritional status of mothers and children.

Mr. Rashad Razaq CEO PPHI said that it’s matter of great pleasure for us to contribute for improving the nutritional status of mothers and children by providing services in BHUs which are being administrated by the PPHI.

UNICEF Pakistan Health & Nutrition Specialist Dr. Safiq-ur-Rehman, Deputy Program Manager Nutrition Program Dr. Sadiq Baloch and Chief of Section Health P&DD Shahjhan Achakzai were also present on the occasion.
