Quetta – Balochistan has been completely ignored in advertised vacancies of Quetta Electricity Supply Company (QESCO).
QESCO, electricity Distribution Company of Balochistan under federal control, advertised 47 vacancies of BPS-17 on Sunday. Out of these 47 vacancies, not a single vacancy has been reserved for Balochistan.
Balochistan has 6 percent quota in federal jobs but there is not a single vacancy in QESCO for Balochistan which is entirely based in Balochistan.
“6 percent quota is for overall federal jobs, bureaucrats in Islamabad decide how this quota should be utilized in different departments,” a source privy to quota system told The Balochistan Point. He added, “Balochistan is often cheated out of high scale vacancies by those in Islamabad.”
At the same time, 310 low-scale vacancies have also been advertised by QESCO. These vacancies are for BPS-2 to BPS-15 and all of them are for Balochistan.
“Small-scale vacancies, by rule, are always recruited from the host population of a government owned department or organization,” a government official, who declined to be named, told The Balochistan Point.
“Federal government is trying to make a fool out of people of Balochistan by advertising small-scale vacancies of QESCO as a part of Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Project because these posts can’t be allotted to anyone outside Balochistan by default,” a potential candidate for QESCO jobs told The Balochistan Point.
Current federal government of PML-N has been blamed by engineering graduate students for favoring their home province of Punjab on jobs of Balochistan.
An engineering graduate who requested not to be named told The Balochistan Point, “Federal Minister Khawja Asif is responsible for discrimination against Balochistan in jobs related to Ministry of Water and Power.”
“5 vacancies in Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) for Balochistan were canceled by delaying the recruitment process indefinitely,” lamented the engineering graduate.
Last year, Federal government declined to commence recruitment on 3,000 jobs reserved for Balochistan.
