Adnan Aamir

Quetta – Organizers of Civil Society of Balochistan have demanded that better facilities should be provided to the disabled people in Balochistan.

3rd December is observed as International day of persons with disability and Civil Society Balochistan vows to make it a starting point to lobby for rights of disabled people in Balochistan.

According to Data provided by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) there are only 3,533 disabled CNIC holders in Balochistan.

Disabled persons face different problems on daily basis such as entry in government buildings and educational institutes.

“We demand that disabled people friendly entry systems should be established in all buildings so that disabled people are not discriminated in anyway,” said Sami Zarkoon one of organizers of Civil Society Balochistan.

All the benefits that a disable person can get by law can only be availed after getting proof of disability from district administration.

Civil Society has condemned the slow process of proof of disability and demanded from government to remove bureaucrat red-tape from the process and make life easy for disabled people.

Mr. Zarkoon also urged all universities in Balochistan to provide guaranteed hostel accommodations to all disable people upon admission without any conditions.

Civil Society Balochistan also appreciated the efforts of Quetta Online group of volunteers and offered their full support for event of Quetta Online about disabled persons on 3rd December.

“A comprehensive law is required to protect the rights of disabled people and we will soon start our lobbying efforts in this regard,” said Mr. Zarkoon.
