Quetta: Awareness Session about US Fellowships Conducted

Quetta – An awareness session was conducted in Quetta about fellowship and scholarship opportunities in USA for people of Balochistan, on Sunday.

Staff from U.S. Consulate General Karachi, under the auspices of Pak-US Alumni Network (PUAN) – Quetta Chapter, conducted the awareness session.

Sarah Alam, Cultural Affairs Specialist U.S. Consulate General Karachi, delivered the main speech in the awareness session.

She described all the fellowship and scholarship opportunities in detail and urged audience members to actively apply for those opportunities.

Discussing the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), Miss Alam said that there are no quotas for any denomination in this program.

“Anyone with 4-5 years practical experience in his respective field can apply for IVLP program,” added Miss Alam.

She asked all the participants to send their Resume` on her Email Address so that they can be considered for IVLP nominations.

All alumni members of PUAN-Quetta Chapter present in the meeting shared their experiences about visits to USA and how it changed their professional and personal lives.


People should apply for exchange programs so that they can inform Americans about Pakistan and its culture – Gul Khan Naseer.

Gul Khan Naseer, President of PUAN- Quetta Chapter, said that people of USA don’t know much about Pakistan. “People should apply for exchange programs so that they can inform Americans about Pakistan and its culture,” added Mr. Naseer.

“People know me after my return from USA because IVLP made me a better and more capable person,” said Shazia Ahmad Langau, General Secretary of PUAN-Quetta chapter.

Hamza Lakhani, coordinator Alumni Affairs for Sindh and Balochistan was also present in the session.

Mr. Gul Khan Naseer thanked the U.S. Consulate General Karachi staff for coming to Quetta for this awareness session and urged them to increase opportunities for people of Balochistan in exchange programs.
