Opposition Councillors convention to be held in Balochistan

Quetta: A convention of local bodies councilors will be held soon to decide future course of action, said former senator Haji Lashkari Raisani on Friday.

Haji Lashkrai Raisani, the chief of All Parties Democratic Alliance (APDA), said during a press conference that Balochistan was the first province to hold local bodies elections. However, the power has not been transferred to councilors even after 9 months, lamented Mr. Raisani.

If powers are not transferred to councilors then they will resign and demand for fresh local bodies election, added Mr. Raisani.

Haji Lashkari Rasini complained that two parties in government are delaying the transfer of power to change the minority of APDA into minority in Quetta. Mr. Rasinai also demanded the transfer of Election commissioner of Balochistan alleging his tilt towards two parties in government.

Local bodies elections in Balochistan were held on 7th December, 2013. This was followed by a long delay and the second round of elections on reserved seats was conducted in May. Since then the process of transfer of power has been delayed because one of government parties has challenged elections on reserved seats.
