1000s Of CNICs Issued To Afghan Immigrants In Balochistan

QUETTA: It has been discovered that thousands of Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) have been illegally issued to Afghan immigrants in Balochistan by corrupt officials of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

This revelation was made by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) which is investigating two NADRA officials arrested in charges of issuing illegal CNICs.

An official of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has said that they are also investigating the case of issuance of 1000s of CNICs to Afghan Immigrants illegally.

FIA official added that most of the CNICs were issued from NDARA offices in Quetta, Mastung, Dhadar and Noshki.

Locals of Balochistan go through a long and tedious verification process before being issued CNICs but Afghan immigrants get the same CNIC easily by paying a heft bribe to NADRA officials, complained members of civil society.

Certain Political parties such as Balochistan National Party (BNP) have consistently raised voice against issue of CNICs to afghan immigrants.
