Quetta: Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr Abdul Malik while strongly condemning the gory incident at Hazarganji, in the outskirts of Quetta on Thursday in which eight members of Hazara community were killed and several other wounded has sought report and directed for early arrest of perpetrators.
Chairing a high level meeting over law and order situation of Balochistan, he directed authorities concerned to expedite their efforts to ensure security of masses.
Provincial Minister Home Mir Sarfiraz Bugti, Minister for Planning and Development Dr Hamid Khan Achakzai, Chief Secretary Balochistan Saifullah Chatta, Major General Majid Ahsan CSO Southern Command, IG Police Amlesh Khan, IG FC, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Muhammad Naseem Lehri, Brigadier Javed Chandio Commander 61 Brigade, Commander Ghazaband Scouts, commissioners of six divisions, CCPO Quetta, RPOs and other high ups also attended the meeting.
The meeting was apprised about the Hazarganji incident that police mostly escort Hazara vegetable- vendors to fruit market but unfortunately today they left for market without informing police, upon which this gruesome incident occurred.
The meeting was told that different teams have been formed to arrest unknown terrorists and probe into the incident. It was also told the meeting that the law and order situation during the past three months was satisfactory as the incidents of target killing, kidnapping for ransom and other crimes were reduced to a great extent. The meeting was briefed about the security plan during the Muharam-ul-haram.
Addressing to the meeting, Chief Minister Balochistan strongly denounced Hazarganji incident and said that killing innocent people was inhuman act and against our national traditions and teachings of Islam. He said that such elements deserve no compassion and directed for their early arrest.
Directing for taking stringent security measures during the month of Muharamul haram he said that provincial government was making all out efforts to revamp police and improve their capacity, therefore a visible change could be seen in the performance of police and levies in Kalat, Sibi,Zhob and Naseerabad divisions.
Expressing regrets over the deteriorating law and order situation in Makran and Quetta, Chief Minister said that incidents of crimes were once again taking place which was a matter of concern for government and people. He also took serious notice of delay in installation of CCTV cameras and directed for early completion of the project. He directed law enforcement agencies to step up their efforts for providing security to the masses and their property.
Earlier, the meeting also offered Fateha for departed souls who were killed in Hazaraganji.
