Quetta – Balochistan National Party (BNP) has called upon United Nations to take urgent steps to ensure the withdrawal of Afghan Immigrants from Balochistan, on Thursday.
This demand was made by Leaders and workers of BNP who held a demonstration outside Quetta Press club to protest against Issuance of Computerized National Identity cards (CNICs) to Afghan Immigrants.
“We will not allow census to take place in Balochistan next year, if 4 million Afghan Immigrants are not sent back to Afghanistan,” said the protestors.
“Parties in Balochistan government who have come to power through rigging are pressurizing NADRA [National Database and Registration Authority] to release the CNICs of half a million Afghan Immigrant families,” alleged the protestors.
Protestors pointed irregularities in House count that took place in 2011. According to BNP leaders, House count was exaggerated by 200 to 400% in Pashtun belt of Balochistan. They also claimed that this revelation was made by former federal secretary statistics.
Statement of Governor Balochistan in which he had called the presence of Afghan Immigrants in Balochistan as source of economic development was condemned by the protestors and it was termed as ridiculous.
“Other three provinces has restricted the movement of Afghan Immigrants to camps but in Balochistan government parties are facilitating them in issuance of CNICs,” lamented the protestors.
Those who spoke at the demonstration include spokesman of BNP Agha Hassan Baloch, Chairman Baloch Students Organization (BSO) Javed Baloch, President BNP Quetta chapter Akhtar Hussain Langove and general secretary Quetta chapter Ghulam Nabi Marri.
NADRA employees have confessed to have issued CNICs to half a million Afghan Immigrants. As a matter of fact, accountability courts have handed down imprisonment sentences to NADRA employees for this crime couple of months back.
