Lack Of Fuel: 8 Mini-Power Houses Shut Down In Balochistan

Quetta – 8 mini-power houses run by Quetta Electricity Supply Company (QESCO) in Balochistan were shut down due to lack of fuel, on Saturday.

Electricity supply to 8 towns was completely suspended due to shutting down of mini-power houses.

QESCO uses mini-power houses to generate electricity for 9 towns of Balochistan that are not connected to national electric grid.

Mini power houses were shut down in 8 towns; Nokundi, Awaran, Jeewani, Ormara, Kalmat, Mashkay, Panwan and Washuk.

Balochistan government pays 50% cost of fuel for the mini-power houses. According to QESCO sources, fuel was not available because Balochistan government had failed to pay expenses of fuel to QESCO in last few months.

People of these 8 towns have severely criticized QESCO and Balochistan government for complete suspension of electricity supply.

QESCO has not stated that when the mini-power houses would resume electricity generation.

Federal government, recently, reduced the share of electricity supply of Balochistan and therefore citizens call Balochistan the biggest victim of electricity load shedding in Pakistan.
