Quetta: Unidentified assailants have shot dead a high profile Afghan Taliban commander in Balochistan, two Taliban officials claimed on Friday.
Molvi Muhammad Alam, a senior commander to Taliban supreme Mullah Akhtar Mansoor, was shot dead Thursday evening in Kuchlak area, some 25 Kilometrts from Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan. Taliban leaders told one of the national newspapers on condition of anonymity.
A Taliban leader, aware of incident said that they could not confirm the killing of Maulvi Muhammad Alam.” Investigations are underway but we do not have details as to who is behind the incident,” added the Taliban leader.
No group claimed the responsibility for the killing
“We are investigating motives behind the high profile assassination.” A senior Taliban leader said.
According to the Taliban, Alam led fighters against Taliban dissidents in Afghanistan‘s Zabul province in recent days that left dozens of militants dead.
