On 23rd of April world celebrates “The world book day”. This day is celebration of authors, intellectuals, illustrators, most importantly this day brings the massage of reading books and the importance of books in life. The main purpose of celebrating 23rd April as World’s book day is to encourage children to taste the flavor of books. Books are very important since they provide a few things that are key to intelligent society.
If I start searching quotations about books obviously I will find more quotes regarding the development of books in human life, as Socrates says, “A room without books is like a body without soul.” Similarly, the same way Plato stresses on reading books: “Knowledge is as much necessary for a mind as water is required for growth of a plant.”
Mind is like a plant, for taking fruits of mind one must serve it with knowledge. Books are for those who want to know their past, no doubt past is full of lessons the same past may be written on a book as history, A recongnization to a nation, history is an eye on the past, history is a source of knowing Nations through books. A book as a good heart to save secrets in it, book provides knowledge to those who have the sense of understanding a book. Books are packed with knowledge, insights into a happy life, life lessons, love, fear, prayer and helpful advice. One can read about anything under the sun. Books have been here for century
A book not only communicates Knowledge but also not wisdom of all kinds. Today if we are aware about the struggle of Che Guevara, the philosophy of Socrates, the ideas of Karl Marx and Lennon, Sartre, Fennon and the struggle of Kwame Nkrumah, all the credit goes to the books because books made it easy for us to know them and their ideologies.
No one ever can deny the fact that books have played a vital role in changing the society. Books, no doubt, have helped in educating awareness and light throughout the globe. With the invention of paper, the importance of reading and writing became more efficient. Ever since the invention the world was gifted with plenty of books on science, technology, socio-economic issues, philosophy, ethics, logic, maths etc by renowned writers.
Europe played a crucial role in removing the darkness from the globe as they introduced Plato, Socrates, Marx and many other well Known writers and philosophers to the world. Marx and Lennon paved the way for the revolution and formed USSR/Russia. The contributions of Marx and articles printed in different newspapers influenced the masses on larger scales that helped remove the slavery chains off their hands.
Whether it is the French revolution or revolution in Russia or in Latin American countries the role of a book was the key factor behind bringing change. A true book compels its readers to think, to ponder, to question, to investigate and to express ones doubt on any issue. It encourages its readers to query things, search for answers, go for discussions, analysis and find logical reasoning.
