Custodial Killings: Two Suspects Die In Custody Of DPO Turbat

Quetta – Two suspects were found dead in the custody of District Police Officer (DPO) Turbat on Tuesday.

Saddam Baloch from Panjgur and Nasir Baloch from Turbat were arrested on suspicions of robbery on Monday night by police in Turbat.

Both men were locked in guard room of DPO which is not an authorized detention center. On Tuesday morning dead bodies of both the suspects were transported to District headquarters hospital by DPO Imran Qureshi.

“Cause of death of both suspects could not be ascertained due to lack of availability of post mortem facility in our hospital,” said Medical Superintendent of District headquarters hospital while talking to media.

A case has been registered against DPO Turbat by police on the application of the mother of one of victims.

DPO Turbat maintains that Additional SHO Noor Baksh is responsible for the deaths of both suspects as he brought them in poor medical condition to the guard room.

Inspector General Police Balochistan, Hamlesh Khan has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Balochistan National Party (BNP) has condemned the custodial killings of two suspects in police custody in Gwadar.  “Current provincial government of Balochistan is responsible for converting the province in a Police State,” reads the press statement of BNP.

It must be noted that incumbent Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr. Malik Baloch belongs from Turbat district where the alleged custodial killings have taken place.
