Educational Emergency: Mastung Schools Waiting For Study Materials For 2 Months

Quetta – Despite the imposition of educational emergency by Balochistan government, schools in Mastung district are waiting for study materials for 2 months.

Government sends study materials to every government school before the begging of March every year. Study materials include, books, note books, charts, slates laboratory material etc.

In normal cases the study material reached the schools with delay of one month but this time study materials, has not reached schools even after two months, notwithstanding the educational emergency.

“I think by educational emergency Balochistan government means to make sure that students are prevented from acquiring education,” remarked Nusrat Ali, a student of Mastung while talking to The Balochistan Point.

Majority of primary schools in Mastung are on-teacher schools where a single teacher is entrusted with teaching all the students that can be up to 100 in strength.

Schools lack proper buildings, furniture and basic amenities such as clean drinking water. In majority of primary schools, students sit on mast in class rooms, learnt the Balochistan Point.

There is a shortage of thousands of hundreds of teachers in Mastung District. Recruitment process for teachers had commenced in December but still tests for Mastung candidates have not taken place.

“Current government in no way is sincere in solving the issue of education in Balochistan, they are only interested in scoring political point scoring,” a social worker told The Balochistan Point on condition of anonymity.

Balochistan government has been blamed by different quarters for politicizing the issue of education.
