One Month Ultimatum To Balochistan Government For Local Bodies Transfer Of Power

Quetta: The elected councilors of Quetta Metropolitan have given one week ultimatum to Balochistan Government to conduct elections of Mayor and Deputy Mayor and complete transfer of power to Local bodies.

A meeting of Quetta Metropolitan Councilors was held on Tuesday which was jointly chaired by Jamal Langove and Sarwar Khan Bazai.

A sit-in will be held outside Chief Minister and Governor House in Quetta if the demands of the councilors are not met, announced the participants of meeting.

10 months have passed since the Local Bodies election and still oath has not been taken from the elected councilors. Councilors don’t even have powers to attest CNIC forms and death certificates. Quetta has turned into a garbage dump because bureaucrats are busy in corruption and receiving kickbacks, lamented the councilors.

Local Bodies elections in Balochistan were held in December last year. The transfer of power has been delayed since then. According to alliance of opposition councilors, transfer of power is being delayed because ruling coalition of National Party and Pashtunkhaw Milli Awami party couldn’t elect their Mayor in Quetta.
