Balochistan is an agricultural province; its agriculture plays an important role in the progress of economy of the country, however, it is regretted that the largest province by area, constituting 44% of Pakistan’s total land mass currently is passing from critical water crisis due to lack of dams and water management plans.
The government of Balochistan including NGOs working on water management in rural areas need to take immediate initiatives for building dams in every drought-affected area to conserve water for agricultural development and other purposes.
The government of Balochistan should utilize available funds to build as many dams as required across the province because building dams would not only help in enhancing the water storage capacity of the province but it would also help in boosting the ground water level as well as developing agriculture sector.
