Letter: High use of tobacco in Pakistan

Usage of tobacco in Pakistan is high among the youth, as our country ranks top among 5 countries with high usage of tobacco. The substance kills nearly six million people each year, out of which almost 600,000 die from second-hand smoke. As a result, it is becoming a growing problem and a serious health challenge in the country. Tobacco products cause impact on health of the people. This can give a burden of diseases like mouth and lung cancer which can be the cause of deaths. The death risk is high because of tobacco and most children fall in this bad track. The government is request to have a ban on tobacco markets.
